Paula L. Gorlin, O.D. Dr. Gorlin grew up inside the perimeter (ITP) of Atlanta and graduated Lakeside High School. She later graduated Yeshiva University with a BA in Biology and completed her Doctorate of Optometry from the State University of New York College of Optometry in 1985. She moved back to Atlanta with her daughter and husband in 1986 and practiced in the Northlake area of Atlanta until her husband’s post doctorate work took them to Rechovot, Israel in 1995. She passed the Israel written and practical national optometric examinations and took a position as a clinical professor at the Bar Ilan School of Optometry teaching students clinical skills and contact lens fitting for one year. She proctored the national optometric exam for those seeking their license and was invited to join the Israeli Optometric Association before returning to Atlanta and opening her practice in the Lawrenceville area in 1996.Since that time she has participated in several clinical studies in conjunction with the CIBA Vision Company on contact lens premarket approval applications with the Food and Drug Administration and in a clinical study with a premarket approval application for a pediatric allergy medication in conjunction with a local allergy private medical office.
She is a member of the American Optometric Association., the Georgia Optometric Association and the Low Vision Rehabilitation Section(AOA) and the Georgia Low Vision Council(GOA) . She has completed an advanced program in Low Vision taught by world renown clinicians, Drs. Faye and Rosenthal at the premier low vision clinic, Lighthouse International in Manhattan, NY and was selected as one of 2 doctors in Georgia to participate in the First Practice Academy sponsored by Essilor and CIBA in June 2008. She was invited to attend the inaugural 2 day Educational Forum at the Vision Care Institute and tour the Vistakon facility in Jacksonville as the sole Georgia representative in June 2009.
Dr. Gorlin is board certified in the treatment and management of ocular disease. Her family optometric practice includes routine and specialty contacts (dailies, bifocals, torics, and keratoconus), laser vision correction and low vision. She enjoys educating her patients and utilizing the latest in technology to bring the newest products to her patients.
When Dr. Gorlin has a spare moment, she enjoys visiting with her friends and family, reading novels and travelling.
Kristy Gleaton, Optician Kristy graduated from Brookwood High School in Snellville, GA and her Bachelor's Degree from Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA. She has been working in the optical industry since 1995 and has been a Georgia Licensed Optician since 2001. Dr. Gorlin and Kristy have worked together for over eight years. She loves working with our patients and assisting in the eyeglass selection process. She is very dedicated to excellent customer service and makes sure our patients receive the highest quality products to fit their needs. Kristy lives in the Buford area with her husband and daughter.
Marie Adauto Marie is our Insurance Coordinator. She has worked with Dr. Gorlin for the past several years and was previously our ophthalmic technician. As our office has grown, we have created a new position for Marie to utilize her extensive knowledge in insurance billing. Marie has lived in the Lawrenceville area for over 20 years with her husband and 3 children and is very active in the community. You may see her at the baseball fields and swimming pools!
Rosa Benedith Rosa is our Front Desk Coordinator and Spanish Translator. She is a vital part of our staff and has been in the medical field for seven years, and worked in our office for 2 years. Rosa is a transplant from Chicago and has been in Lawrenceville for the past three years with her 2 children.
Katy Rookard Katy is our ophthalmic technician and the newest smiling face on our staff. She graduated from South Gwinnett High School in 2000. She has been in the optical field since 2002, with lots of experience in assisting the doctor and doing preliminary and diagnostic testing. (We like her very much and she is wonderful and nice and sweet, just all around great!)
